Imagine being glued to the television while events like Gore/Bush presidential election and 9/11 terrorist attacks unfold right before your eyes. These events sparked my immediate love for Journalism.
Growing up in the rural parts of Arkansas, I learned that I was a leader and had to be the example as the eldest child of my younger brothers and those connected to me. As a single parent, my mother raised her boys on the principle of faith, knowing that any obstacle faced was never a stopping point.
Throughout my childhood and adolescent years, my love for broadcast journalism intensified; however, it wasn’t until college that I was finally convinced that I would be a TV Reporter.
At the University of Central Arkansas, I experienced tragedy and an awakening at the same time. Our campus experienced a school shooting, which caused cable and local networks to flood the campus for weeks. This was the catalyst to me connecting with a local news reporter to shadow. Ultimately, I graduated from UCA with a major in Broadcast Journalism, and a minor in Theater.
My big break was in Albany, GA, as a Morning Multi-Media Journalist for the NBC Affiliate. This begins my ten-year journey; my love for this industry has taken me from Albany to Augusta, GA, Jackson, MS, Cincinnati, OH, and now Pittsburgh, PA. anchoring hundreds of newscasts to reporting on thousands of stories, I noticed a commonality, "people want and need a voice in their local community!"
Connecting with the local community is the reason I enjoy this career. I use my resources to tell their stories. My franchise, “Houston, I have a problem,” has allowed me to connect with viewers, which in return brings me great joy. My passion is to help people find solutions to their problems, no matter how big or small.
Viewers have allowed me to participate in community events from judging pageant shows, barbecue contests, or emceeing fundraisers. My most rewarding titles so far are son, big brother, uncle, friend, and mentor. In my spare time, you’ll find me reading books, boxing, skating, and or watching any of the Real Housewives franchises.
